ideal vs reality 
In class we talked about how these houses are so extravagantly styled, but upon creating this post, I am much less critical. I included a Google satellite view so the extent of the destruction can be witnessed. The houses sit in a wasteland, and have almost no existing context. The Google streetview was taken before the tornado, and show a very typical, nice Missouri residential neighborhood. Extreme Home Makeover, with all its faults, should be commended for trying to bring just a little bit of hope and charm back to this part of Joplin.
